Your health is vital to living a full and happy life and many people are eager to stay fit while RVing. However, maintaining a fitness routine while on the road could be challenging. We've put together some tips on how you can stay fit while enjoying RV life.
Start Small.
Most people think they have to jump right into a physically challenging workout routine. What you might now realize is a little goes a long way. Start out by incorporating long walks, or small hikes into your everyday routine. Once you've got that down, start with easy workouts inside your RV like light stretching, yoga or Pilates.
Create a routine.
It's easy to blow off your fitness when you simply can't get in the mindset. By creating a daily or weekly routine where you incorporate 3 days of 20-30 minutes of exercise into your week, you'll have a mental commitment to staying in shape. Think of it this way; making the mental commitment to stay in shape is as important as doing regular maintenance on your RV.
Invest in starter equipment.
You don't need a full gym to get a good workout in. Nature is your oyster and any type of cardio can be done in the great outdoors. Activities like hiking, swimming, biking or jogging will go a long way. If you're looking to incorporate some strength training into your workout, invest in some starter equipment that is easy to pack and stow away in the RV when not in use. Some important pieces of equipment to invest in would be, resistance bands, TRX bands, a yoga mat, a jump rope and lastly a massage roller for those recovery days.
Get creative.
The benefit of exercise is there are so many ways to do it and you can really get creative with it. If you're looking to make it more "fun" for yourself, try incorporating things like Zumba, belly dancing, jazzercise, kickboxing, barre or yoga. You can even get creative in other ways like, working out with a buddy and challenging each other, or taking your pet with you and incorporating workouts that benefit the both of you. Even just creating your own playlist with your favourite tunes might put you in the mood to get in a good 30-minute workout.
Working out and staying in shape can be fun and once you've got a routine down-pat and you find something you enjoy doing, the fitness aspect will just be an added benefit!
