Winter Activities for the Whole Family

As the cold weather of winter is here, that shouldn’t discourage you from heading out for new adventures! In this blog, we want you know the winter activities available in Ontario Parks and around Ontario! As well as some inspiration to help you plan your winter camping activities! 

Sledding and Tobogganing for the fast-paced adventurer and the whole family

For those of you who have your winter jackets, snow pants, hats and gloves, Pinery & Bronte Creek have the best toboggan hills! Be sure to pack some warm clothes, hot drinks and always be safe while sledding! 

Dog-sledding for the Dog Lovers 

Algonquin has opportunity to try your very own dog sledding experience! Whether you want to try it with your own four-legged friend or alternatively there are outfitters who offer the amazing experience in the park! 

AND if you want to experience something completely new at Quetico’s campground, you can do some skijoring with your dog! 

Lace up your Skates

One of the great Canadian activities for every winter is skating. Here are just some of the destinations to skate in and around Ontario:

  • Gage Park Skating Trail, Gage Park, Main St. S. and Wellington St. W. in Downtown Brampton

Experience Winterlude in Ottawa this February 

As you are planning your winter activities, one activity everyone needs to experience at least once is the Winterlude in Ottawa! It is the winter festival that’s geared towards the cold winter & fun for any family! From ice skating to snow playgrounds with ice slides, to snow tubing! Maple Syrup Experiences 

While planning your winter activities this year, make sure to add the 2025 maple syrup season to your list. Take your family to learn how Ontario maple farms harvest their delicious maple syrups and make sure to taste test while you’re there. Many farms will teach the process by offering tours and pancake breakfasts for everyone. Here is a list of all the 2025 maple syrup festivals and events happening!
