Winter RVing Checklist

Publish Date: Nov 15, 2022 Author: Ashley Rego Category: Tips

Summer might be the most desired time of the year for RVing, but winter is a great way to experience the outdoors. Escape the busy crowds, enjoy the peaceful campgrounds and appreciate the beauty in the winter scenery. In this article, we're going to provide you with some useful tips to guide you through your first winter RVing experience.

  • Pick a campsite that isn't too far from maintained roads in case of snowy or icy conditions.

  • Install and upgrade your RV insulation to ensure your camper stays warm. Insulation will also protect your units components from damage.

  • Prevent your plumbing from freezing up. When ice expands in pipes and hoses it may cause them to crack or burst if not properly insulated.

  • Check and clean your RV furnace to ensure it is in proper working condition.

  • Pack warm clothing and bring back-up supplies in case of emergancy.

  • Keep a close eye on the weather before you leave. Winter weather changes quickly, so check the forecast before you leave so you know what to expect during your stay.

  • Ensure you have plenty of propane on board. When the temperature dips, your propane can run out quickly. Be sure to have a backup heat source just in case.

  • Check your batteries and make sure they are fully charged. Partially charge batteries are more likely to wear out in cold weather.

There's nothing quite like winter RVing. Bring in the solitude of a winter campsite, watching the snowfall with a blanket arouond you and a hot choclate in hand. If you follow the tips we've inluded for you in this article, you'll have an amazing winter RVing experience.
